Organic is Good. Recycling is Better!Benders Ink is now carrying a new premium organic sweatshirt made from collecting post-industrial cotton scraps and plastic and glass bottles and sorting them by color. They are then broken down into fiber form and paired with other fibers (recycled cotton or polyester, depending on what we started with) to add softness and durability. The fibers are then re-spun into yarn and knitted into PLAYBACK t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies. We’re not talking about a solar-paneled suit or pants made out of leaves, we’re talking about clothes you actually want to wear that happen to help the environment.
Playback colors are created using the color from the original recycled component (like beer bottle brown and water cooler blue). As a result of this process, not only do we save on chemical dyes, our colors are richer and more complex than conventionally-made clothing.
When compared with a conventional cotton/polyester sweatshirt, PLAYBACK has the following positive impacts on the environment:
68% less global warming potential
33% less land used
49% less air pollution produced
80% less waste generated
25% fewer carcinogens produced
79% less fossil fuels used
So organic...good...yes.. and recycled, well its just better. We need more of it and its part of the circle of our modern and garbage creating times.
